Mango

Indian mangoes come in various shape, size and color with a wide variety of flavor, aroma and taste. The Indian mango is a special product that substantiates the high standards of quality and bountiful nutrients packed in it. A single mango can provide up to 40 percent of the daily dietary fiber needs. India is also a prominent exporter of Fresh Mangoes to the world. The country has exported 22963.76 MT of Fresh Mangoes to the world for the worth of Rs. 378.49 crores/ 48.53 USD Millions during the year 2022-23.

Orange

Mandarin orange (Citrus reticulata) is most common among citrus fruits grown in India. It occupies nearly 40% of the total area under citrus cultivation in India. The most important commercial citrus species in India are the mandarin (Citrus reticulata), sweet orange (Citrus sinensis) and acid lime (Citrus aurantifolia) sharing 41, 23 and 23 % respectively of all citrus fruits produced in the country.

Guava

Guava (Psidium guajava) is one of the important commercial fruits in India. It is the fourth most important fruit after mango, banana and citrus.Guava is the fourth most widely grown fruit crop in India. The area under guava is about 0.15 million hectare, producing 1.80 million tonnes of fruit. Bihar is the leading state in guava production followed by Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Custard Apple

Custard apple (Annona squamosa L.) also known as Sitaphal or Sugar apple of sweet shop, Custard Apple is a sweet and delicious fruit. It is also called “Sharifa”. Its vegetative name is AnonSchachamosa. Sharifa is also a plant of medicinal value. Its leaves act as tonic in heart disease because the leaves are found in the Tetrahyhydro isochkinine alkaloid.

Pomegranate

Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is an important fruit crop of arid and semi-arid regions of India. It has ability to withstand harsh climate and tolerate heat, drought and moisture deficit situations. Pomegranate has high medicinal and nutritional value. It is grown commercially in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. During 2021-22, pomegranate was cultivated over 3.21 lakh ha with an annual production of 32.42 lakh tonnes and productivity of 11.70 tonnes/ha in India

Grapes

Grape (Vitis vinifera) is grown in temperate to warm regions, however, hot and dry climate is ideal for its cultivation. Indian grapes come in varied characteristics namely colored, white, seeded, unseeded, large and small berries. Indian grapes are successfully grown at and above 250 mean sea levels. India is also a major exporter of Fresh Grapes to the world. The country has exported 267,950.39 MT of Grapes to the world, worth Rs. 2,543.42 crores/ 313.70 USD Millions during the year 2022-23.

Lychee (Litchi)

Litchi has a special place among the fruits by virtue of it’s attractive colour and distinct taste. India ranks second in the world in production of Litchi production after China. In India, Litchi is grown in almost 83 thousand hectares of area with a production of 5.75 lakh metric tonnes. Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand are the major litchi growing states of the country. The litchi requires specific climate for flowering and fruiting.

Watermelon

Watermelon contains about 6% sugar and 92% water by weight. As with many other fruits, it is a source of vitamin C. Notable is the inner rind or the watermelon which is usually a light green or white color. This area is edible and contains many hidden nutrients that most people avoid eating due to its unique flavor. The amino acid citrulline was first extracted from watermelon and analysed.

Muskmelon

Muskmelon (Cucumis melo L) is a fruit crop widely cultivated by farmers in India particularly during summer season. It is a warm season crop known for its unique flavour and taste. The fruit is known for its high-water content and has cooling effect on the body. They are rich in rich in Vitamin A and C.
